Bodø

Green aviation, sustainable tourism and aquaculture

Bodø

The university town of Bodø is an important logistic hub in the region with roads, a railway, port and airport. The town is a northern Norway aviation hub, and a national aviation competence centre with many exciting aviation actors, such as Widerøe, the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority, Avinor, Opscom Systems and RTC.

The town is committed to many areas within both tourism and culture and can boast the title of European Capital of Culture 2024. When it comes to seafood, the municipality is in a prime position with a sales growth of approx. 80% during the last ten years.

During the next few years, Bodø will realise one of Norway’s largest development projects when the airport will be relocated, and the size of the current town centre will be doubled. Here the town has great ambitions related to realising a zero-emission neighbourhood with space for more people and businesses.

With a new airport and key aviation companies in the town, work is now being conducted to turn Bodø into a centre for green aviation.
