Aquaculture, green growth and strong traditions
The Municipality of Røst has adopted the growth strategy for Lofoten ‘The Green Islands’, which through a joint green growth initiative enables Lofoten to reach the goal of becoming a low-emission community by 2030.
The municipality is rich in fisheries and has long traditions for dry fish production. The seafood and fishing industry is the largest industry today, but also tourism and culture play an important role in the community.
The Municipality of Røst has both a business fund and entrepreneur fund. This island municipality also highlights its commitment to young families by building a new combined preschool and primary school with a before and after school club. The island has daily flights and ferry connections to the mainland.
